Cozy Reading Nooks – Redecorating and organizing my home is one of my favorite ways to beat the winter blues. When you feel stuck at home this time of year, I do my best to make my place comfortable and cozy and try to fight off room fever.
The concept of creating a special place to read and relax. Having a desk chair by the window in my house will one day be a dream come true. This winter I want to work with what I have now (small apartment) to create my own little reading nook.

When living in an apartment with limited space (and funds), remodeling a window or installing custom siding may not be possible. But the good news is if you want to get creative and rearrange some of the furniture; You can make a free reading hook out of things around the house.
My Cozy Bohemian Reading Corner — My Moonstone Kitchen
Start by figuring out where to start your reading room in your home. You’ll want to live in as quiet and secluded a place as possible, so living in a tiny house or apartment can definitely be a challenge. If you don’t have a prominent place, try clearing out the corner of your bedroom.
I am sure, If you’ve got a window seat or a small, cozy space in your home (lucky you), This would be the perfect place for your reading room.
If possible, equip your reading room with a window for natural light. It’s a good idea to be a little closer to the outlet so you can plug in lamps and other lights (but extension cords are always an option).
If you own a bookshelf, rearrange it on the back wall of your loft. If you have one and don’t want to buy it, don’t worry. You can recreate a box by turning it on its side; Or the books can simply be lined up on the floor. If you have the space, use bookshelves as room dividers to separate your reading room from the rest of the space—this is one of my favorite ways to use bookshelves.

Creating an optimal seating arrangement is very important for a reading space. I love how vintage or vintage-style chairs can transform a space into a boho dream, but you can use whatever chairs you have on hand. Plastic floor cushions or bean bag chairs also make inexpensive options. If you already have space in your home like a window seat, Make sure the cushion is thick enough to sit on for long periods of time.
Whether it’s a small table or part of a bookshelf. It’s also important to have space within reach; It’s a place where you can sit while you read or stare at your phone.
Fabrics add visual appeal to your reading desk. It’s a wonderful way to create softness and texture. Throw a soft blanket of your choice on the seat with two thick pillows for extra comfort. If it’s in your budget and makes sense for your space. A small Persian-style rug is a great way to add a vintage feel.
If you are near a window, White to create a soft glow from natural light; Use sheer curtains. Add a lamp for nighttime reading and make the space more magical with fairy lights and flameless candles (a safer alternative to traditional candles in tight spaces!).

Things are going well here. I’m in the middle of a major apartment renovation, I’ve been setting up this little reading nook in my tiny studio apartment for the past two days. It has become my favorite spot in the entire apartment. You can curl up all day on these comfortable floor cushions.

I decided to break off a corner of my studio apartment to create my own little reading room. I repurposed a 3-2-1 tiered cube shelf as a bookshelf/temporary room divider and placed the 3-cubed side directly against the wall. I especially love how the bookshelves come down from the wall into the center of the space.

Therefore, A fun fact about me: I am in love with floor cushions. I have a way Too many. But I think they are one of the best inventions of all time. They are soft but supportive; Strong and versatile, they create a wonderful and cozy atmosphere in your living space.
Aim for a variety of fabrics and colors to create a cohesive bohemian feel. I went with a bed with a combination of velvet and corduroy floor cushions, and grabbed some velvet pillows from Ikea that were already in the house to add to the space.
Some of the cushions and pillows I use in the reading room are out of stock, but I found some dupes for them on Amazon (I’m pretty sure they’re from the exact same manufacturer!).

Soft, warm lighting is a big factor in creating a sense of calm and comfort in your space. Plants bring life and energy to any space, and the reading frame is no exception. Pictured are some lovely plants (a corn plant, a philodendron and an orchid) and some lovely fake vines and plants.
I also put a cute storage unit based on my shelf to organize some of my books and accessories. After all, what would a reading room be without a soft and lovely blanket? I have had it for a long time. But this one from Amazon is similar.
To make my reading room more peaceful. I placed some of my favorite candles in the space along with oil spray and some Palo Santo. I made my own oil diffuser with a lovely vintage style bottle of scented oil and reed spray sticks.
