Outdoor Kitchen Design Ideas

Outdoor Kitchen Design Ideas – When we moved into this house five years ago, we fell in love with all its 1908 charms. Of course, the house’s age comes with renovations and maintenance, but in our eyes it is very precious. First, we completely redid the interior kitchen, creating a space that truly makes me happy every day I walk into it, with lots of natural light, colorful flowers, unique backsplashes, original hardwood floors, and open shelving.

The front and back of the house showed a lot of potential. It’s just a matter of time until we put the work and thought into those areas, and bring them to life in ways that suit our style and the needs of our work. I am very happy to show you today our new project; complete toilet renovation from the ground up.

We spent the last year completely renovating the backyard, bringing it completely down to dirt and rebuilding from scratch to include a patio, pergola, outdoor kitchen, living room, and library/shed (which almost finished). ). This summer we had more fun than we have in all the years we’ve been here combined. It turned out to be the best addition to our house that I could have ever wanted. It just confirmed my love for cooking for others and sharing the table with them. ❤️

Indoor Kitchen Design To Outdoor

Instead of working with a designer, Brian and I spent months gathering design ideas from Pinterest and Instagram for a covered outdoor kitchen. Although not the norm, this is what we have found works best for us; find things we like and then mimic them to create a vision. Another unconventional part of how we approach projects is that we don’t go in with a set design. We design as we go along with input from builders, contractors, masons, and ourselves.

This is how we designed our kitchen as well. This way of working is a little more intuitive and powerful, yet it allows for pivots and creativity to flow as we go.

An example is; From the beginning we planned to build custom warehouses behind the equipment. At the end of the show we saw a story on Twin Cities Live about the mosaic art made by Mercury Mosaics. This has sparked a lot of discussion and has become a classic piece that ties into the back design of the interior kitchen.

The decision to build the structure from local milled pine brought out a lot of beauty and we felt it fit in with the rest of our old house. It is important for us to embrace the warmth of wood and the experience, without being modern.

The custom cabinetry is also made from thatch we sanded and painted Iron Ore from Sherwin Williams (in Emerald Rain Refresh finish). I like the contrast of the dark color on the pine, without it being too heavy.

Our design was created by High Noon Construction and J. White Builds. (This is the same crew that Brian worked with on the 1800’s Scandinavian home renovation a few years ago.) They do amazing work and are true professionals. We are happy with the results. Brian has also done a lot of work, from design to painting, construction to estimating, troubleshooting and repair; and I am forever grateful for that.

: When building an outdoor cooking system, it’s important to make sure you follow all local codes and check with your builder to ensure safety. Please refer to the manufacturer’s manual for instructions on how to install the cookware.

Over the past four years, we have made many delicious meals on our grill. Part of the reason I’m interested in building an outdoor kitchen is to include other equipment besides grills to expand the variety of recipes and meals I can cook. Additionally, I want to create an outdoor kitchen that can replace the indoor kitchen for the hot summer months when I don’t want to heat the house.

Benefits Of An Outdoor Kitchen

We chose to install a gas pizza oven, a grill-top grill, and a grill with a rotisserie. After that decision, the first step was to run a 90 foot gas line from the house to the outdoor kitchen so we could use them on demand instead of the propane tanks.

From creamy pancakes to smashburgers, mashed potatoes to fried rice, I’ve been using my toaster oven more than I thought possible. He is very capable. I think if you are building an outdoor kitchen, this piece is a must.

I love the sleek, stainless-steel design of its construction, the heat, and the bright knobs. The oil tray makes it easy to clean and remove residue, and the stainless steel lid doubles as protection for when it’s not in use and as a back to keep things greasy. A generous kitchen area is especially beneficial when cooking for a party or preparing many things at once.

I don’t want to sound weird, but when I say my outdoor pizza oven changed my life, I mean it. Using my pizza crust recipe, the pizzas that came out of this oven blew away all other pizzas for me! There is nothing better than achieving the perfect crust with a foamy, chewy bite that comes from the performance of this device.

The pizza oven is gas-fired, with automatic burners for both the oven and the foam allowing precise temperature control to suit the needs of the cook.

I love this competition. The low amount of time it takes to heat is unlike any other grill I’ve ever used, with its direct heat, unique sea zone, and ceramic lighting system. Have you ever wondered how restaurants get the water mark and grilled food right? It has a setup like this.

Like our previous grill, it has a two position rotisserie with a heavy duty stainless steel grill that I use to make this recipe for rotisserie chicken and prime rib! It’s a fun way to cook and it’s well spent.

In terms of size, I found that the 32-inch grill had plenty of grill space and a suitable heating surface for our needs. I really like LED spotlights and indoor halogen lights for night cooking. It’s one of those things that you don’t even think about until you have it, it makes it easier to see.

Stone Veneer To Outdoor Kitchen

Many of you are familiar with the crunch in your indoor kitchen. The colors and feel of it became a part of me, and it seemed to make sense to bring that energy to the outdoor kitchen as well. Mercury Mosaics, a local ceramic tile maker, has started creating mosaics from their beautiful handmade tiles. In collaboration with their team, we took the design and colors from the indoor kitchen and created two custom pieces that you see in the outdoor kitchen.

The shape of the unique type was Brian’s idea, which happened to be the shape of the pizza oven doors. We then used metal fabrication to fabricate the frame to size, had a friend of ours weld them, and powder coated it from another company. Brian spent several days installing the tile in the frame, which was great. They really bring the kitchen together, and I can’t imagine it without these adorable hand tools that reflect my style.

, but we have natural Bluestone left over from stone work used throughout the bathroom renovation. We played around with using it as a used item and decided to go with it.

And so far, so good! Brian used a mask to protect it, but it was still strong so grease could be a problem. Nothing touches forever; wash it with dish soap at dawn on the day of cooking to keep it that way.

After looking at different outdoor kitchens online, he decided he wanted one too.

First, he got a pre-installed gas grill, pizza oven, refrigerator, and kegerator. He then placed them on some of the uncovered islands because he thought the design looked good on a patio he had seen on Pinterest.

It took Julian almost a year to complete his outdoor kitchen. When his family used it, the finished color had already been changed from UV and rain.
